The Ayrshire and Galloway Railway ( full title Ayrshire and Galloway (Smithstown and Dalmellington) Railway received Royal Assent for its Act on 8th June 1847.
It was authorised to build lines around Waterside and Dalmellington.
It sponsored an extension act in 1853 and changed its name in the process. See Ayr and Dalmellington Railway.
