Birmingham and Gloucester Railway

From Railways

The Birmingham and Gloucester Railway is probably most famous for part of it's route, namely the Lickey Incline, although it has other claims to fame as well (see Railway Inspectorate).

The line was authorised on 22nd April 1836, running from the London and Birmingham Railway's Curzon Street terminus in Birmingham to Gloucester.

It was opened in stages between 24th June 1840 and 16th August 1841.

It was leased by the Midland Railway on 1st July 1845 and absorbed by that company on 3rd August 1846.
