East Lancashire Railway

The East Lancashire Railway was basically the Manchester, Bury and Rossendale Railway with its name changed. This happened in July 1845.
In May 1859 the company was absorbed by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway.
During its life the East Lancs absorbed the following companies :
- Blackburn and Preston Railway
- Blackburn, Burnley, Accrington and Colne Extension Railway
- Liverpool, Ormskirk and Preston Railway
It also absorbed two railways jointly with the L & Y :
