Edmund Denison

From Railways

Edmund Beckett Denison was a native of Leeds. During the 1840's he was MP for Doncaster and was a major force in the creation of the Great Northern Railway partly through his disgust for the actions of George Hudson (the so-called Railway King) who controlled all the existing routes from London to York and the North-East of England.
