Highland Railway

The Highland Railway was a Scottish railway company which was grouped into the London, Midland and Scottish Railway
It was formed in 1865 by the merger of the Inverness and Aberdeen Junction Railway and the Inverness and Perth Junction Railway.
The company absorbed the following during its lifetime :
- Dingwall and Skye Railway
- Duke of Sutherland's Railway
- Sutherland Railway
- Sutherland and Caithness Railway
The following companies were worked by the Highland from completion until the grouping but were not actually absorbed by it:
The Highland also worked the Invergarry and Fort Augustus Railway between its opening in 1903 and 1907 (when the NBR took over).
