Hull Trains

From Railways

Hull Trains was the first open access operator to have been given permission to run passenger trains in the UK.

Born from an idea originally developed by Renissance Trains it was formed in 2000, part owned by GB Railways (80% share holder) and Renissance Trains (20%). First Group are now the majority share holder having taken over GB Railways in 2004. It runs up to 6 trains daily from London Kings Cross to Hull calling at Grantham, Retford, Doncaster, Selby, Howden and Brough, with 5 (4 during the current engineering works) trains each way on Saturdays and 4 on Sundays.

In 2005, Hull Trains replaced its fleet of Turbostars with a brand new fleet of 4-carriage class 222 Pioneer trains that have allowed the company to cut journey times and offer a higher level of on board service.
