Portpatrick and Wigtownshire Joint Railway
From Railways
The Portpatrick and Wigtownshire Joint Railway was formed on 1st August 1885 by a merger of the Portpatrick Railway and the Wigtownshire Railway.
Strictly speaking the line was jointly owned by the London and North Western Railway, Midland Railway, Caledonian Railway and Glasgow and South Western Railway but only the last two played any active part in the management of the new company and it is usually regarded as being owned by them only.
