Preston and Wyre Railway, Harbour and Dock
From Railways
The Preston and Wyre Railway, Harbour and Dock company was formed in 1839 by the amalgamation of the Preston and Wyre Railway and Harbour amalgamated with the Preston and Wyre Dock Company. The company's original railway line (from Preston to Fleetwood) was under construction at the time and opened the following year.
It later obtained acts for lines to Blackpool and Lytham St Annes. These were completed just before the company merged with the Manchester and Leeds Railway in August 1846. The merger was a bit of a mess as the act authorising wind-up of the Preston and Wyre company was not passed until 1888.This article is a Stub. you can help UK Railways by expanding it.
